truly british

TrulybritishNow  thru Saturday 15 October

Harrods
87-135 Brompton Road
London, SW1X 7XL

An event celebrating British design as part of the London Design Festival 2005.

Cool Britannia is old news and Little Britain is a joke wearing thin; it's time to celebrate being truly, madly, deeply British. From September 5th to 15th October, Harrods is showcasing the best this country has to offer, revelling in the fascinating melting pot of cultures that makes Britain Great. Truly British is more than a storewide event. It's a state of mind. Truly British people are open-minded, free thinking, adventurous, tolerant, passionate, heroic, innovative, eccentric, mischievous and generous. You don't have to be born a Brit to be accepted; its absolutely fine to be ish.

Which other city could have nurtured artists as ethnically diverse as John Galliano, Hussein Chalayan, Alexander McQueen, Philip Treacy, Tracey Emin, Chris Ofili, Nick Hornby, Kazuo Ishiguro, Monica Ali, Miss Dynamite, Bjork and Talvin Singh?
