Liberty of London Opens First Stand Alone Store on Sloane Street
If you make Liberty of London a must-see on your trips to London you'll be thrilled as we are to hear about the iconic London shop's global expansion. The first stand alone shop has opened at 197 Sloane Street in the heart of Kensington earlier this month. Liberty's Creative Director Tamara Salman collaborated with Paris-based architects Pierre Beucler and Jean-Christophe Poggioli to design a vision drawing on Liberty's impressive heritage infused with a contemporary point of view. In the store you'll find men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, scarf, swimwear and jewelery lines including Liberty's own collection.
Highlights of the stunning two story 1800 square foot space include:
The milk white walls accented with gold arches are contrasted with blackened oak and high gloss black furniture set upon a grey stone floor with a hair-line brass inlay of an abstract ‘Ianthe’ signature print. Stucco ceilings and walls are intricately carved from archive prints such as the floral ‘Chrystelle’ celestial garden design. A curtain of transparent acrylic spheres inlaid with a ‘Ianthe’ design highlighted in black which follows the line of a curved sweeping black oak staircase leading to the men’s floor on the first floor. Purple shafts of light are projected from above cast a shimmering purple glow at night. Black gloss paneling is inspired by the wooden paneling in the original store. Ceilings and walls feature elements of floral moldings from inside the Liberty building along with a swan and stag’s head. To add to the glamour of the store, contemporary 1960’s inspired modern circular chandeliers add a element of vintage edge to the space.
